Natural Skincare For Acne – Tips 9 Natural Skin Care Routine For Acne

Natural Skincare For Acne – Tips 9 Natural Skin Care Routine For Acne – If you’d rather avoid the side effects of medications, here are some natural treatments that may help improve the condition of your skin. Avoid popping the cysts if you can, as this results in a further spread of the bacteria and can make the acne worse.

1. Eat a healthy diet. Try cutting out dairy for a couple weeks to see if your acne improves. Check with your doctor to see if you have any food allergies, and listen to your digestive system for clues on any foods you may be sensitive to. Eat more fruits and vegetables and avoid processed foods, greasy foods, and excess sugar. Try a low-glycemic diet to level out your blood sugar levels.

2. Adopt a natural skin care routine. Take a look at your skin care products. Those with sulfates, preservatives, and other chemicals may be making your acne worse. Try brands with all natural plant ingredients that are nourishing and protective for your skin—like Annmarie Gianni Skin Care products! J

3. Try calendula. This herb has a reputation for treating cystic acne. It’s an antiseptic and an anti-inflammatory, so it will help clear out the bacteria that cause acne while taming the redness. Dr. Weil suggests using it as a natural alternative to benzoyl peroxide, and simply wash the skin with tea made from the flowers.

4. Apple cider vinegar. Considered a “natural acne cure,” apple cider vinegar has natural antibiotic properties that kill off acne-causing bacteria. It also helps you balance the skin’s pH level, which can be particularly important after cleansing. Mix one part natural, organic apple cider vinegar with two parts distilled water to create your own natural toner, and apply after every washing. For a cool, refreshing mist, store in the refrigerator.

5. Lemon juice. This natural ingredient contains L-absorbic acid, a powerful antioxidant that protects and helps clean skin. The lemon juice as a whole is a natural disinfectant, destroying acne-causing bacteria, and because it’s acidic, it helps exfoliate old, dead skin cells so they don’t hang around and clog pores. After cleansing, apply with a cotton ball directly to the affected areas and leave on for at least 30 minutes, or overnight. If you find this treatment too drying, try applying only a couple times a week.

6. Honey mask. Honey is also a natural antiseptic, helping to kill acne-causing bacteria. In addition, its natural acidic properties help deter the bacteria’s ability to replicate. Honey calms inflammation and can be particularly helpful in the middle of a breakout when the redness and pain are at their worst. Clean your face first, pat dry, and then apply raw honey (Manuka honey has the best reputation for wound healing) to the skin with your fingertips. Massage and allow to remain for 10-15 minutes, then rinse off.

7. Tea tree oil. This natural herb is a potent anti-microbial, with the ability to kill bacteria, viruses, and fungus. A 1990 study found that tea tree oil was just as effective against acne as benzoyl peroxide when used over a longer period of three months. Furthermore, the tea tree oil produced fewer side effects like drying, itching and burning. It can be irritating, however, so mix a few drops into a couple teaspoons of aloe vera gel and apply directly to the affected area a couple times a day. You can also mix a few drops in with yogurt for a moisturizing mask.

8. Blue tansy oil. This oil has a reputation for being a powerful anti-inflammatory, and therefore may help reduce the redness and swelling associated with acne. If you experience rash-like acne, this oil may be best for you. It can stain your skin, so it’s best mixed with a carrier oil or with one of the other oils listed here.

9. Neem. Native to India, neem is an antibacterial herb that comes from the fruit of the neem tree. It not only helps to kill the bacteria that cause acne, but it also reduces the associated redness. This herb helps control oily skin, as well. No coincidence that we have it in our Herbal Facial Oil for Oily and Acne Prone Skin!
