For this tutorial you will need:
-One clear polish to use as a basecoat
-One opaque white polish for the tips of the nails
-One nude polish to use as a topcoat
-A nail buffer
-A nail file
-Nail polish remover
-A flat brush

In this tutorial I will be using any clear polish for the basecoat.
For the white tips in this tutorial I use “Snow me white” by Sinfully Colors. For the top coat in this tutorial I use “Mademoiselle” by Essie.

The first thing we will do in this tutorial is to buff our nails. Buffing your nails is a great way to keep them healthy, smooth and shiny. Buffing your nails before applying nail polish is also a great way to make the nail polish last longer, go on smoother and look better.

Next in this tutorial, we will file our nails. I am using quick motions, filing in the same direction (no continuous strokes with the file as this can cause the nails to peel, so go one stroke at a time with the nail file). I am going for a square shape today, but you can do whichever shape you like.

Next step in this tutorial is to apply the basecoat. Apply the polish in even strokes. Then let the nails dry.

Next step in this tutorial is to apply the white polish to the tips of the nails. I am using a simple roll over method. To use this method, rest the tip of the nail polish applicator on the tips of the nail, and gently roll the nail across under the tip of the applicator. Or if you have a very steady hand, gently glide the applicator across the tips of the nail for a very smooth line. You can also experiment with other methods, and see what works best for you! For example, you can try the vertical brush method, which involves applying the applicator to the tips of the nail in vertical brush strokes. I personally prefer the roll over method, that’s the one that works best for me!

When doing my other hand, with my non dominant hand, I tend to have a more difficult time and to make more mistakes. So to smooth out any lines, take some nail polish remover, pour it into a small container (I am using the cap of the bottle in this tutorial), then dip the tip of the flat brush in the polish remover, and gently dab the spots that you want to remove or smooth out. Once you are done with this process, you can move on to the next and last step.

The last step in this tutorial is to apply the topcoat. Make sure to apply it evenly. Then let your nails dry.

Once your nails are dry, this would be a good time to use the flat brush to remove any excess polish from the skin around the nails.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and thank you for watching!

  1. Very helpful and Kait is great!! (Sorry, couldn't resist 😁 She really is awesome!)

  2. Great tips, I put off doing my nails because there damn hard work, please tell me which nail varnish will actually dry on me the quickest, I have so much trouble because I can't sit there an hour waiting for them to dry before I can do anything.

  3. Oh my gosh! Every single one I need to do. Thank goodness you did this video. Major thanks to your friend.

  4. I'd love a 48 hour manicure! I swim, and the pool and shower never fail to ruin my manicure. I'll have to try acetone instead of my usual nonacetone remover. I've just always gotten nonacetone because my nails are so weak. Also, I always thought cuticle oil would ruin my mani…. I'll try though, ladies! I'll try ALL of this.

  5. Those were great. I do all of those except push my cuticles back and apply topcoat to my mani's everyday. Thanks Kait!

  6. Excellent tips!!!! Excellent video!!!! I've always used alcohol to "clean" my nails before polish, instead of acetone.

  7. I've never don't the acetone thing in my life!!! Makes total sense I'm going to do it now, oh I've never don't any of these btw…love this video!
