Perfect red lips – lipstick and lip liner professional make-up artist tutorial. Getting lipstick right is less straightforward than it looks With tips to prepare your lips for lipstick, how to make your lipstick last longer and create the perfect bold red lip, professional make-up artist Rebecca Cawthra engagingly talks straight from the bullet without glossing over any of the essentials. She uses a Rimmel lip liner and Rimmel moisture renew lipstick in Diva Red.
Preparation:
Use sugar mixed with a little Vaseline to prepare your lips — makes lips as smooth as possible, getting rid of any dry, dead skin.
Choosing a lipstick:
• There’s a huge choice of lipstick out there — matt, glossy, frosty.
• As a general rule matt lipsticks will always last longer — and they make a good base for a gloss over the top.
• Glossy lipsticks like this Rimmel one I’m using will glide on to your lips more easily.
• Great brands like Max Factor, Rimmel and Bourjois are all handy to buy at the Cooperative Pharmacyand you can order them online.
How to apply:
• Lip liner makes a good primer for your lips and it means your lipstick will last that bit longer
• If you accidentally go outside the lips, use make up remover on a cotton bud to correct the mistake.
• Always use a synthetic brush for lip line application because it gives you a more precise
• Choose a colour that tones well with your lipstick — maybe try it on your hand first.
Tips:
• There are lots of hints that can help you choose the right lipstick colour — for instance if you want to use a bold red lipstick, choosing a red with a hint of blue in it will make your teeth appear whiter.
• It’s really important with a strong lipstick colour like this that you’re very precise with the way you apply it. With a more neutral lipstick on the other hand you can apply it straight from the bullet — it’s a lot more forgiving if you make a mistake.
